From Chicago, off the Yankee Hotel Foxtrot CD. Amazing lyrics. I don't think I've heard an alt-rock/country/pop band have a song about the Trinity. Of course the two arguing over the meaning of the lyrics in the comments section not only reminds me of IA sometimes, but also that Tweedy left many ways one can understand this beautiful song. Still not sure if I like them, but I've gone from a toe to a foot in the Wilco water.

Saw THe Whole Love tour Show in ATL. Amazing show even if you didn't like the music. I thinks it is great. At one point in the show they introduced a guest on stage: Duane's guitar. Duane's guitar graced the stage for a couple of songs and the Georgia crowd went nuts, me included. It was definately a sound from the past coming back to touch us all. Wonderful stuff.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aN0ADvq3qgQ

I'll go, I'll go, I'll go, I'll go for you
I'll fight, I'll fight, I'll fight, I'll fight for you
I'll kill, I'll kill, I'll kill, I'll kill for you
I will, I will, I will

I'll go,I'll go, I'll go, I'll go for you
I'll fight, I'll fight, I'll fight, I'll fight for you
I'll die, I'll die, I'll die, I'll die for you
I will, I will, I will

And if I die
I'll die
I'll die alone on some
Forgotten hill
Abandoned by the mill
All my blood will
Spring and spill
I'll thrash the air and then be still

You'll wake
With a start from a dream
And know that I am gone
You'll feel it in your heart
But not for very long
You'll rise each day as planed
Your will is your command
And stand each Sunday
A hymnal steady in your hand
You'll sing to yourself
The rising-falling melody
That you could never read
Without the choirs' lead
Still alone, and lost in deep
And your soul will not be free

I will go , I will go, I will go
And in wars waters
I will wade
And I will know
If I remorse or regret
The fairness of our trade
For you to live
I took your place
A deal was made
And I was paid
And the goal as I was told
Was a place where my body could be laid
And we will steal your life
And die old
In better homes surrounded
By your peers
Without suffering or fear
Grandchildren far and near
And none will shed a tear
For the love no longer here

I'll go, I'll go, I'll go, I'll go for you
I will
I'll fight, I'll fight,I'll fight, I'll fight for you
I will, I will, I will
I'll kill, I'll kill, I'll kill, I'll kill for you
I will
I'll die, I'll die, I'll die, I'll die for you
I will, I will, I will

And if I die
I'll die
I'll die alone like Jesus
On a cross
My faith cannot by tossed
And my life will not be lost
If my love comes across

They are on the top of their game. As I said last night w/in earshot of some band members, "Jeff's tunes continue to impress but Nels wants me to drop out of life and go on the road selling veggie burritos at shows".

I don't think they loved the way it ended, but it's proof of authenticity. Ya know?

Oh, all sorts of things were not exactly perfect in that take. I like it like that way sometimes. Must be some band I listen to that changed my ears.

RIP Jay. I love the current lineup and worship Nels, but know full well that would never be where they are now w/o Jay. I know JOTS prefers the Jay era.

Wilco is so new to me I don't have a preference yet. I have had Yankee Foxtrot Hotel for a couple years but other than that album it's all virgin music territory. The Mermaid Ave albums are just amazing as is the Whole Love. I will see them this summer can't wait till they tour the northeast. This Austin City Limit show is real nice quality for 1999.

Outstanding. I'd have loved to have seen them do a few night stand at same place, but I like how they do multi-venue shows in a close area over a few days (San Jose, San Francisco, Oakland, Davis)
